SUNYLI’s Mission

Advancing SUNY’s vision by providing expertise on leadership development that successfully prepares SUNY leaders for broader roles and greater responsibility within the system.

SUNYLI Programs

SUNYLI offers programs ranging from self-administered SUNY360 online personal skills inventories to high-energy, interactive SUNY College Leaders workshops designed to instill best leadership practices and confidence in one’s potential to achieve successful outcomes. SUNYLI programs are grounded in Cornell University research focused explicitly on leadership for institutions of higher education, and are custom-tailored for, and tested within, actual colleges and universities.

SUNYLI Support for Executive Leadership

The Institute also supports the Provost’s Office in the production of training programs for SUNY campus leaders, including the fall semester Senior Staff Orientation and the summertime Campus Leadership Development program, as well as the annual Executive Leadership program for SUNY leaders and their counterparts from colleges and universities nationwide. To learn more about these programs, visit the SUNY-Wide Gateway section of the website.

SUNYLI Presentations

SUNYLI furthers collegiate leadership development not only through its own innovative programs but also through participation in events sponsored by its peer organizations and by colleges themselves. Director Lee Riddell and SUNYLI’s associates are featured presenters at meetings, workshops and conferences throughout New York State and across North America.
